What a prosthodontist does
A prosthodontist is a dentist with additional specialty training in designing and making replacements for missing teeth: the shape of the teeth, how the upper and lower teeth meet, and how the whole system fits your face and your joints. It is detailed, exacting work, and it is a specialty of its own.
His part in your treatment
Dr. Posada designs your surgery prosthesis: the prosthesis you wear from surgery day, while your implants heal. His value is in the design itself, a precise occlusion, meaning a bite that comes together correctly, and healthy joints. General dentists can over-open or over-close a bite; a prosthodontist’s design work is how that gets avoided from the start.
